When I completed my best-selling book, Lucky Code, many people approached me, expressing their dream to write their own book. When asked why they haven’t started, most came back with, “I don’t have the time.”
In my recent Huffington Post article entitled "7 Excuses Killing Your Success", the words, “I don’t have the time” were #1 on the list.
When someone says that they do not have the time, what they are really saying is, “This is not all that important to me.” The reality is that we have the time, each of us, to do the things that matter. Chasing our goals should always be something that matters.
The excuse, “I don’t have the time” is often used to cover-up an underlying fear of failure or a lack of confidence to achieve a particular goal.
We have the same 24 hours as Bill Gates and Oprah, they have a lot going on, and still found the time to chase and achieve their biggest goals. Time for us to release this lame excuse forever and dive into two easy ways to find time, when you think you don’t have any.
Wake Up Earlier.
Go to Sleep Later.
Simple enough, right? When in the process of penning my book, I woke up early (sometimes as early as 3:30am!) to ensure I found the time to chase my dreams of becoming a best-selling author and helping others around the world to learn the Lucky Code. And it paid off, big time. Lucky Code reached #19 on Amazon’s Kindle store for Motivational books prior to its launch (thanks to pre-sales!) and shot as high as #5 in the motivational category in the very first week of launch and #31 in self-help.
I sacrificed a little sleep for a big dream. If you want something bad enough, you will find the will to do the same. Wake up earlier. Go to sleep later. Do whatever it takes Goal Chaser to get that end result desired.
Stay Off-line & Find that Time.
Thanks for reading this post! Chances are, however, that you’ve likely been scrolling through emails or social media prior to finding it. That’s valuable time you could’ve been using to chase that big goal of yours if you’re an “I don’t have the time” frequent flyer.
If we are honest with ourselves, we likely all spend more time than we are proud to admit, checking the latest updates on social media sites or reading the newest blog posts. Even watching Netflix while we're at it (come on, I'm not the only one that watches the seasons of Game of Thrones back to back, right?)
Entertaining ourselves using social media and television isn't the problem, the issue arises when we do this, fail to chase our goals and use the excuse "I don't have the time."
Whether your goal is to start a new business, to go back to school, to lose weight or even to become the next American Idol, you must put in the time.
I sincerely want you to become the very best version of yourself and to achieve the many goals that you have set. Promise me that going forward, you will think twice before saying that you don’t have the time and always make space in your schedule to chase your biggest goals.
